I realized I’m more of a long form individual...

So, if you come here with any regularity at all you may notice that I’m more of a long form kind of person rather than posting the occasional brain fart - I’m not elevating the content found here by any stretch of the imagination, just observing more often than not, I try to put up real content.

I was thinking about that looking at another blog the other day and that’s when it hit me. I somehow don’t want to just churn out a couple of lines and just point you in another direction somewhere on the internet, I actually want to put things into context and give you something.

Once again, I slog through the drafts queue trying to clean it out. I realize looking back on this which I started in December of 2021 (Oh my God, that’s FOUR YEARS AGO ALREADY!!!!), the purpose of the blog to begin with wasn’t so much to get attention and I can’t say I’ve ever gotten any real traction here outside of webcrawlers as much as it was developing my writing ‘voice’ and style.

I’ve accomplished that I think. I’m often told I’m a good writer by folks… I’ve even had people ask me to help them with writing something which can be odd but I don’t mind doing it.

The big factor is that I wish I could do it and make money. When I said the other day I was looking around trying to figure out what would be next, I’ve been looking at a bunch of whacky things to bring in a buck. During a work meeting last week, at one point they got to talking about the election because of it being election day and voting and all of that. They were talking about a few different things (some of which were just plainly incorrect) when I offered up something and said I had worked as an Election Inspector for around 10 years at which point the client contact said she wasn’t surprised about that. She said, “I’m not surprised PJ, you’ve done a lot of things.”

I don’t know if that was meant as a compliment or an insult truthfully but then again, I’m older that most of the people I work with and what’s funny is that in the context of our interactions, I’m sure they have this image of me not realizing this is just the current iteration they see.

I think back to all the different people I’ve been at various points in life and I don’t think that’s all that unique.

Getting back to the blog though, I haven’t been writing as much as I may have wanted to of late. I’ve developed bad habits that I have to break and procrastination is one of them.
